Nowadays people are very interested in their career and education. Those people who have university degree have usually better opportunities on the labor market and have more chances to achieve success in the career and have higher level of income. The employees pay attention on two main factors in the resumes of the candidates: the educational background and practical experience in the chosen major. But in contemporary world there is also one important factor which can influence a lot on the development and advancement of the career. This factor is career planning. It is never late to begin the process of the career planning, but it is better to do it beforehand and in time.

Majority of people make their career decisions depending on the short term factors and do not think about the future and about the real career goals. The factors which are really important for the career decisions are: your employment situation, competitiveness of the major and position, level of career development and personal preferences.

First of all try to determinate with your employer’s situation. Do you satisfied with the current salary? Is your employer a leader on the market? Are sales increasing? Does you employer use contemporary technologies and latest trends in the sphere? What is the reputation of your employer on the labor market? Do the plans of the employer meet your career goals?

After it, check if your career is marketable? Is there demand in your knowledge and skills on the labor market? Be critically and honest. Think about your experience.

The next block of questions refers to the career development. Do you use your knowledge and skills in the current job? What is your potential on the current position? Is your position challenging? Do you have an opportunity to express your thoughts and opinion? What are the thoughts of your boss about your perspectives?

The next stage is to determinate with the personal preferences. Do you like your job? Do you develop at the job?

After answering on all these questions carefully and honest you can make serious decisions concerning future development of your career.
